Vancouver Jazz Scene
The jazz venues of the 70s and 80s included the Classical Joint, the Red Barrel and the Landmark Jazz Bar. Tom played them regularly with his own group, the Tom Keenlyside Quartet, as well as Skywalk, Jim Byrnes, Renee Rosnes and the Westcoast Jazz Orchestra. These bands and artists provided Keenlyside ample opportunity to perform with the best musicians in Vancouver, and led to gigs with Hugh Fraser, VEJI., the New Orchestra Workshop., Phil Dwyer and Dave Robbins, to name a few.

The Tom Keenlyside Quintet:
- Recorded at Chick Corea’s studio in L.A., “Returning,” 1980.
- Toured Canada and played nightly concerts.
- Recorded several national shows for C.B.C. “Jazz Radio Canada,” featuring original compositions by Tom Keenlyside.
- Recorded for French Radio C.B.C.
- Radio air play throughout the U.S. and Canada.
